On July 21, 2013, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Celecoxib as a new oral treatment for osteoarthritis. Celecoxib is approved by the FDA for the treatment of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), and naproxen (Aleve, Aleve).

DRUG INTERACTIONS
There are no known drug interactions between Celecoxib and Celebrex. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medication.
Some people may need dosage adjustments to avoid potential drug interactions.
The dosage of Celecoxib is dependent on the condition and the patient's age, weight, kidney function, liver function, and response to treatment.
If you are being treated for high blood pressure, you should avoid taking Celecoxib for pain, or if you are receiving a heartburn or nausea, you should avoid taking Celecoxib for pain. It is not known if Celecoxib is safe for long-term use.
If you are taking this medication to treat cancer, you should avoid taking Celecoxib as a first-line treatment for pain.
In addition to the recommended dose, it is not known if Celecoxib is safe to be used long term in children under age 12.
